The Hatter

So I got stuff at DI to be king julien and then when I tried putting the outfit together last weekend...after some frustration, realized it wasn't going to work! So, I moved on and am excited about my new costume idea: the hatter on the new Alice in Wonderland! Hopefully this one will work out!

KING JULIAN!!

Happy Halloween everyone! i love halloween. it is my second favorite holiday. Because there are so many festive things to! The more festivities in a holiday, the more i love it. I love pumpkin everything: pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin candles, pumpkin shakes, pumpkin waffles....yes! And I also so much love the weather. the leaves start turning colors and the temperature cools just a bit. The leaves crunch below you as you walk. Love it! And it is the start of all the holiday fun to come!

This year for my costume i am very excited. I am going to be king Julian from madagascar. He is my favorite character, so it will be fun to act like him and look like him. The costume is yet to come together, but I'm pretty confident it will be sweet! Stay posted for pictures of the final costume. :)

Too Good to Be True is right.

So as my last post hinted, I had a crush. And it was pretty darn big. I seriously had this thought cross my mind: "he is the one." And I was the happiest, cheerfullest, gittiest I have ever been. On Friday I met...Matt. he was studying in my anatomy lab at open lab time and I asked him if he wanted to study together. So we did for like 2.5 hours. The most part was pretty serious studying, but toward the end, he went on social mode and was talking a lot to me about some stories from his mission-so talkative. And he had a lot of energy and i was smiling and laughing a lot. So he established to me that he was coming in tommorrow around 10:30 to study some more. And i was too. So saturday morning comes and i am so excited. He is tall, cute, strong, seemed funny, and there was just an x factor I thought that was there. I even put in my contacts, do my hair and wear a cute outfit. I get to lab, then a few minutes later he walks in and I am excited to see him. And he seemed excited to see me. We study for about 3 hours...and the whole time he is kidding and we both have a lot of energy. And in my mind, we were flirting, but of course moderately. Then we leave at the same time and go to the library. On the walk he talk talk talks to me, tells me stories, asks me questions, and seems so animated and interested in me. Then we get to the library and just talk and laugh and get to know eachother-family, likes, dislikes, stories, etc. This goes on for two hours in the library. Then at 2 pm. He juts out. And I was like, o darn why didn't he get my number? O well.

I was so gitty all weekend and couldn't wait til Monday because in my mind sparks were flying between us. I wondered where he had been all my life. So-I get all ready for monday. I see him in open lab of course. But it seems like the energy between us is gone. I was kind of confused. But funny thing is I see him all the time! I saw him between classes, and i even saw him when i was walking home from school. But the conversations were dry and short. So i was bummed and confused so I checked his BYU account and after looking at it for a bit and smiling at his picture, I noticed the marital status says: married. I did triple takes. Because that would be rediculous. I honestly believed it was just a mistake on his account. After all, my drivers licence says I am a Male. So come tuesday (yesterday) I was gonna get to the bottom of this. I didn't see him in the day which was actually fine with me. But as I am in the gym working out like I usually do, he shows up. At this point I think, k he might be married so whatever, I just was myself and friendly. And it Matt was super social and super interested in me..he lingered around me, asked me questions, didn't even really worry about working out, and just talked to me. And was saying thigs a married man would just not say. So at this point I am like, ya he CANNOT be married. So I get kind of hopeful because we are interacting and having fun and maybe he likes me and this could be good! An example of our interaction would be: I was doing dips between two benches and he comes up and says, "you make it look to easy" as he moves a bench away and lifts up my legs as I do the dips. And as I was doing dips on a dip machine he was standing by me and counting and then he did them...and i counted and he was showing off. He flexed in front of me, he complemented me on my muscular arms, he mentioned how he thinks girls that snow board are sexy, then he was leaving but was waiting for me so he could say goodbye or something. (and NO he hasn't ever been wearing a ring or mentioned any wife or any marriage from day 1). So he tells me he is going to go try to play ball in the RB so I was like ok i'll come. We end up talking for a half hour outside of the RB, and then I asked him if he lives with his roomates or his wife ( it was in a certain context that I dont want to take the time to explain). And he says wife real quick and then proceeds to tell me about his roommates from freshman year. I was so taken back and felt really awekward and told him I was going to leave to see my friends soccer game. He wanted to show me this video on youtube but I said, no im gonna check out my friends game. So before he leaves he tells me he will either be in the comp lab or the court. So i go to my friends game for a bit. I wasn't sure if Matt was joking when he said "wife" becasue it just didn't make sense. SO i go back to the RB with a motive-I play pick up game with him and some guys. Then at 10 he starts packing up. The guys were begging him to stay for one more game. But he responds with, " I gotta go. I got my wife picking me up at 10." BOOOMMM! I was just so perturbed! O my goodness. crazy man. What the heck. So, today I jetted out of class so as to not see Matt in between classes. I go way up far away to the wilk where i'm sure he won't be and I was going to have lunch with Emily. But as I am walking through the wilk: there is married little flirtatious Matt. When we see each other, he was on the phone but notioned for me to wait until he was off the phone. I tell him im going to go to the bathroom, and he says ok as if he is going to wait for me. And he is still acting like he is so interested in me. I get out of the bathroom and he is talking to a boy. I talk to them for a bit, then tell him im going to go have lunch with my friend.

And that is it. Next time i see him, he will not be able to say a word without me asking him about his wife and when he got married and how married life is. I cannot believe him. And I cannot believe how off base I was. Anyway, thats whats up. It's pretty disappointing. But thats life.

O Summer.

O the Summer has been so great. The greatest part about it was just this past trip to Texas to see Summer and Darrell and Mom and Dad and Amber and my nephews and Sean. This was the first time seeing Summer since her wedding. It was so fun to see her and Darrell. There were just so many laughs and good feelings. We could just be lounging around and have a blast. We played games, cooked dinner and ate in the beautiful backyard. We talked and watch movies and did crafts. We also played in the pool and got sun burnt. Summer made me a pillow which I proudly tell everyone summer made for me. and i sleep with it close by, if not ON it.

My favorite night was probably our first bonfire with the kids and we danced and were all goofy. Summer just has a way of lightening everyone's mood. Her happy and free spirit was eminent the second I heard her in the airport. Once she was around, it seemed like everyone was just in a better mood and more relaxed. She can always make us laugh. With Summer around, everyone starts crackin jokes and laughing and smiling. I love it. I am so grateful I was blessed to grow up with her always around. She made my life more fun. She is the perfect balance to my personality because I can get kind of serious, but like to have fun. And she brings my silly side out. It was good for us all to be back together again under the same roof. My time there was cut short by Emily's wedding, but I'm thankful I was able to go even for the one and a half weeks i did. I just can't wait until I can be together again with my family and never having to say goodbye.

CALIFORNIA :)

I love these sunsets.
Surfin!
Us at Grandma and Grandpa Bruce's house before we left.
Here is the loveable, hip Grandpa Bruce
Beach Beauties: Emily Davis, me, Emily Romesser
The Romantic Pier at night

Every place has its ups and downs. But what i love about California is the atmosphere of fun, the palm trees, the flip flops, the attractive people, the warm sunshine, the familiarity of it since i grew up there, but most of all...THE BEACH!!!!! Some of my best friends and I went there in june and it was a fantastic trip. I didn't want to leave. My first and best college friend, EMily Romesser, is getting married august 20th to our friend from freshman year, Tyler Brown. Tyler's family is..well off you could say and they invited us kids to join their family vacay in a beach house in Oceanside, San Diego. SO part of the trip we were at the beach house and the last part of it we were at Tyler's grandparent's house in Meniffee, close by. Tyler's grandparents are so so cute and are just your typical beachy California people. Their house was decorated very beachy and fresh. Tyler's grandpa was a great surfer and taught surf lessons, so he taught us for free! It was a lot of fun just being a the beach. The waves were not too big but big enough to have fun in and the water was not cold at all. My favorite part was probably just playing Frisbee and football by the tide and jumping in the waves to catch a pass. Then we would just lay on the towels on the sand, feeling the breeze, tasting the salty air, drinking punch, eating sandwiches and chips, and just talking and laughing. For some reason it seems when we are at the beach, we hardly need to be doing anything to be having a good time. Just sitting on the beach doing nothing is more fun than doing something in a regular park. We also had a bonfire at sunset. We strolled around the pier and the downtown shops in Oceanside. We went to the Mormon battalion in San Diego, we ate at Claim Jumpers, we went to a church on Sunday that had a parking lot that overlooks the beach in the distance through the soft rolling mountains and palm trees. The weather was sunny but not too hot--my favorite kind of weather. A guy got my number after church who goes to BYU that i have played pick up basketball with before. We ate, ate, ate, ate, and ate. Grandma Bruce makes delicious food, especially cake. I certainly gained at least five pounds on the trip, but it was fun to eat without any reserve for a while, but not smart. haha.

Then, we traveled home. While it was sad to leave, we still had fun on the trip home because we stopped in Las Vegas and rode the New York New York ride and ate at In-n-Out. It was a perfect trip. I had never been on a just friends road trip before and i am glad I did cuz its a blast! Good times! I love my life! :)
